WAT DOET EEN YOGADOCENT?

Een yogadocent geeft yogales aan yoga cursisten. Het oorspronkelijke doel van yoga is het beheersen van de geest, het gevoel en het lichaam om zo god te kunnen bereiken. Tegenwoordig wordt yoga ook veel beoefenend zonder dat er direct sprake is van religieuze bedoelingen. Het bevorderen van de gezondheid en de verbinding tussen lichaam en geest maakt wel altijd een belangrijk onderdeel uit van yoga, met als doel het evenwicht te herstellen. In het kort kunnen we yoga omschrijven als het zoeken naar balans tussen lichaam en geest. Yoga is dan ook sterk gericht op het uitvoeren van oefeningen die het evenwicht herstellen. Het herstellen van het evenwicht is over het algemeen een combinatie van zien, voelen, spiritualiteit, mentaliteit en emotionaliteit in combinatie met oefeningen.

Geschiedenis van Yoga

Yoga komt oorspronkelijk uit India en is ontstaan vanuit het hindoeïsme. Tegenwoordig bestaan er verschillende vormen van yoga, waarbinnen verschillende methodes en oefeningen toegepast worden. Eén van de belangrijkste redenen dat mensen yoga beoefenen is dat ze door het beoefenen van yoga innerlijke rust vinden. Yoga is populair omdat het een combinatie is van spiritualiteit en beweging.

Hatha

Eén van de bekendste vormen van yoga is de hatha. Binnen de hatha yoga staan lichamelijke oefeningen in combinatie met ademhalingstechnieken centraal, met als doel de bewustwording van het lichaam zodat cursisten de spanningen in het lichaam leren herkennen. Het leren herkennen van spanningen in het lichaam is een belangrijk onderdeel van yoga, omdat spanningen er voor zorgen dat spieren stijver en korter worden. De voordelen van yoga zijn dat mensen ontspannen, evenwicht vinden en een betere houding krijgen. Ook is het goed voor de spieren. Daarnaast kunnen yogaoefeningen prima thuis uitgevoerd worden als iemand eenmaal bekend is met yoga.

Yogadocent

Een yogadocent geeft dus yogalessen aan individuele mensen en/of aan groepen mensen. Ondanks dat yoga ook thuis te beoefenen is kiezen veel mensen er voor om yogalessen klassikaal te volgen, omdat het groepsgevoel voor veel mensen een belangrijk onderdeel is van de yoga. Daarnaast is het zo dat de toepassen van de juiste yogatechnieken een belangrijk onderdeel vormt binnen de yoga. Het is de yogadocent die toeziet op de toepassing van de juiste technieken. Een belangrijke aanvulling hierop is dat de inhoudelijke werkzaamheden van een yogadocent verder gaan dan alleen het geven van instructies aan cursisten. Een yogadocent zal ook toezien op het behalen van de persoonlijke doelen tijdens de yogales. Met andere woorden kan een yogadocent niet aangemerkt worden als instructeur, omdat de inhoudelijke werkzaamheden van een yogadocent verder gaan dan alleen het geven van instructies. Vooral het toezien op de juiste lichaamshouding en ademhalingstechnieken is belangrijk binnen de yoga. Met andere woorden zal een yogadocent toezien op de toepassing van de juiste technieken, zodat cursisten verbinding kunnen maken met het lichaam, de geest en de omgeving. Binnen de yoga is het verbinden met het lichaam en de geest een belangrijk onderdeel, zodat mensen bewust worden van hun lichaam.

Daarnaast speelt bewustwording een belangrijke rol binnen de yoga. Door de bewustwording kunnen cursisten helder nadenken over de mogelijke problemen waarmee iemand te maken heeft.
