Wat is Open source-tools ?
De term open source verwijst naar iets dat mensen kunnen wijzigen en delen omdat het ontwerp openbaar toegankelijk is.
De term is ontstaan in de context van softwareontwikkeling om een specifieke benadering voor het maken van computerprogramma's aan te duiden. Tegenwoordig duidt 'open source' echter een bredere reeks waarden aan - wat we 'de open source-manier' noemen. Open source-projecten, -producten of -initiatieven omarmen en vieren principes van open uitwisseling, gezamenlijke deelname, snelle prototyping, transparantie, meritocratie en gemeenschapsgerichte ontwikkeling.
Wat is open source software?
Open source software is software met broncode die iedereen kan inspecteren, wijzigen en verbeteren.
"Broncode" is het deel van software dat de meeste computergebruikers nooit zien; het is de code die computerprogrammeurs kunnen manipuleren om te veranderen hoe een stukje software - een 'programma' of 'toepassing' - werkt. Programmeurs die toegang hebben tot de broncode van een computerprogramma kunnen dat programma verbeteren door er functies aan toe te voegen of onderdelen te repareren die niet altijd correct werken.
