Wat is Microsoft Office 365 ?
Office 365 is een reeks abonnementsdiensten die door Microsoft worden aangeboden als onderdeel van de Microsoft Office-productlijn. Het merk omvat abonnementen die het gebruik van de Microsoft Office-softwaresuite gedurende de looptijd van het abonnement mogelijk maken, evenals cloudgebaseerde software-as-a-service-producten voor zakelijke omgevingen, zoals gehoste Exchange Server, Skype for Business Server en SharePoint, onder anderen. Alle Office 365-abonnementen bevatten automatische updates voor hun respectievelijke software zonder extra kosten, in tegenstelling tot conventionele licenties voor deze programma's, waarbij voor nieuwe versies de aanschaf van een nieuwe licentie vereist is.
Na een bètatest die in oktober 2010 begon, lanceerde Microsoft Office 365 op 28 juni 2011 , oorspronkelijk bedoeld voor zakelijke gebruikers als opvolger van Microsoft Business Productivity Online Suite (BPOS). Met de release van Microsoft Office 2013 breidde Microsoft Office 365 uit met nieuwe abonnementen gericht op verschillende soorten bedrijven, samen met nieuwe abonnementen gericht op algemene consumenten, inclusief voordelen op maat van Microsoft-consumentendiensten zoals OneDrive (waarvan de integratie met Office een belangrijke factor was). kenmerk van de suite uit 2013).
Op 21 april 2020 werden de abonnementen voor consumenten en kleine bedrijven van Office 365 omgedoopt tot Microsoft 365, wat de nadruk legt op productiviteitsfuncties en -services buiten de kernsoftware van Microsoft Office.
