Wat is een game developer?
Een game developer is iemand die apps en software ontwikkelt in gamevorm. Denk aan simulatoren, serious games of games voor spelcomputers. Een gamedeveloper kan niet alleen creatieve concepten bedenken, maar heeft ook specialistische kennis van de techniek achter een game.
Wat doet een game developer?
Een game developer zet creatieve ideeën om in praktische en technisch goed werkende concepten. Hij of zij ontwerpt, bouwt en programmeert interactieve digitale producten en houdt zich vooral bezig met de technische onderdelen van games. Hiervoor werk je als game developer veel met 3D software.
Virtual Reality (VR) en Augmented Reality (AR) worden steeds belangrijker onderdelen van het werk van de game developer, omdat deze technieken in steeds meer omgevingen worden gebruikt. Als game developer werk je dus niet per se aan games die in de vrije tijd gespeeld worden, maar ook aan games die voor educatieve en professionele doeleinden worden gebruikt. Dat kunnen console-, pc- en webgames zijn, maar ook interactieve installaties.
Werkzaamheden die bij de functie van game developer zijn onder andere:
