Wat is Docker Swarm ?
Een Docker Swarm is een groep van fysieke of virtuele machines waarop de Docker-applicatie draait en die zijn geconfigureerd om samen te komen in een cluster. Als een groep machines eenmaal is geclusterd, kunt u nog steeds de Docker-opdrachten uitvoeren die u gewend bent, maar deze worden nu uitgevoerd door de machines in uw cluster. De activiteiten van het cluster worden bestuurd door een zwermmanager en machines die zich bij het cluster hebben aangesloten, worden knooppunten genoemd.
Waar wordt Docker Swarm voor gebruikt?
Docker swarm is een tool voor containerorkestratie, wat betekent dat de gebruiker meerdere containers kan beheren die op meerdere hostmachines zijn geïmplementeerd.
Een van de belangrijkste voordelen van de werking van een dokwerkerszwerm is het hoge niveau van beschikbaarheid dat wordt geboden voor applicaties. In een dokwerkerszwerm zijn er doorgaans meerdere werkknooppunten en ten minste één beheerknooppunt dat verantwoordelijk is voor het efficiënt omgaan met de bronnen van de werkknooppunten en ervoor zorgt dat het cluster efficiënt werkt.
