Wat is een barbier?
Een barbier is een specialist in het knippen, scheren en verzorgen van baarden en snorren. De naam is afgeleid van Barba, het Latijnse woord voor baard. Echte mannen met wilde baardgroei lieten vroeger hun baard en snor bijhouden door de barbier omdat ze dat zelf niet konden. Dit werd met een zeer scherp scheermes gedaan. Vroeger keken ze niet zo nauw naar de hygiëne, nu mag dit alleen nog met scheertoestellen worden gedaan en met mesjes die na één scheerbeurt worden weggegooid.
