Wat is audioproductie?
'Audioproductie' wordt vaak door elkaar gebruikt met 'muziekproductie', maar het zijn eigenlijk verschillende dingen. Audioproductie is wanneer iemand audio opneemt en deze bewerkt om het op een bepaalde manier te laten klinken.
Dus, wat is het verschil tussen audioproductie (of engineering) en muziekproductie?
Een audio-ingenieur, de persoon die tijdens een opnamesessie op het mengpaneel zit, voert bijvoorbeeld audioproductie uit. Zij zijn verantwoordelijk voor het kiezen en positioneren van de microfoons, zorgen ervoor dat het geluid nauwkeurig wordt vastgelegd en zorgen ervoor dat alles van hoge kwaliteit klinkt. Bij het productieproces is ook een Mixing Engineer betrokken, net als de Mastering Engineer.
Hoewel je misschien denkt dat deze mensen niet de creatieve types zijn die productiekeuzes maken, is dat niet helemaal waar. Het geluid van een akoestische gitaar kan drastisch veranderen, afhankelijk van hoe de ingenieur de microfoon instelt. De Mixing and Mastering Engineers moeten beslissen welke plug-ins en effecten ze moeten gebruiken op basis van hoe ze denken dat een nummer moet klinken.
Dat brengt ons bij de persoon die een groot deel van de eer (vaak vanwege de eer) krijgt voor de creativiteit in een opgenomen nummer: de Music Producer.
Muziekproductie gaat over hoe het nummer stroomt, welke instrumenten erbij betrokken zijn en hoe je de sterkste emotie in een opname naar voren kunt brengen. Muziekproducenten zijn niet de enigen die aan muziekproductie doen - artiesten, songwriters en componisten hebben ook een grote zeggenschap over hoe ze hun nummers moeten opnemen.
