Spierhypertrofie of spieropbouw houdt een hypertrofie of vergroting van de skeletspier in door een groei in grootte van de samenstellende cellen. Twee factoren dragen bij aan hypertrofie: sarcoplasmatische hypertrofie, die meer gericht is op verhoogde opslag van spierglycogeen; en myofibrillaire hypertrofie, die meer gericht is op een grotere myofibrilgrootte. Het is het belangrijkste onderdeel van de bodybuildinggerelateerde activiteiten.
