Goniometrie is een tak van de wiskunde die de relaties tussen zijdelengtes en hoeken van driehoeken bestudeert. Het veld ontstond in de Hellenistische wereld in de 3e eeuw voor Christus van toepassingen van meetkunde tot astronomische studies.
